Ethiopian hit singer Teddy Afro (real name Tewodros Kassahun) married his long time main squeeze, model and former Ms. Ethiopia Amleset Muchie in September of 2012.
These two had a wedding very similar to the Tirunesh and Sileshi wedding. I mean the grandeur and luxury of this wedding can only be pulled of in Addis Ababa really. Where in the world can commoners buy themselves a wedding so grand that they even have the royal guard present?
According to Ethiopian press reports (diretube.com) the wedding festivities included an Ethiopian Orthodox ceremony at Holy Trinity Cathedral (Kidist Selassie), Lunch at Sheraton Addis, A stop over at Menelik Square accompanied by Ethiopia’s National Guard, and a reception at Hilton.
Ethiopian crooners such as Gossaye and Tsehaye graced the stage at the couples reception, which is rumoured to have been attended by over 1000 guests. Let’s not forget Teddy Afro himself. How could he resist? He got up on stage and sang his hit single Tsebai Tsenay – a song dedicated to Alemsehay.
I love Alemsehay’s classic style. She doesn’t over do it, rather, she opts to use hairstyles as her main accessory. She leaves her hair down with a delicate side floral piece during the day and in the evening, she pulls back her hair which is decorated by mini floral pieces in an ethereal look. For the Melse, Alemsehay opts for a traditional braided style with gold hair jewelry adorning the crown of her head.
At the end of the day, Alemsehay’s dresses take centre stage. She sports two bridal dresses on her wedding day and a beautiful timeless traditional Ethiopian dress for her Melse.
Let’a take a minute to ooh and Ahhh at these dresses, shall we? (FYI, I got most of these photos from Teddy Afro’s FB page)
